Help decorate The Actors Theatre Workshop (ATW) for our 30th Annual Holiday Class and Celebration. Wrap gifts, put up decorations and help bring an award-winning after-school theatre arts education to children experiencing homelessness or on the spectrum this holiday season

Volunteers will do any or all of the following:

• Pick up and wrap donated gifts that will be given to the participating children
• Repair and hang lights around our lobby, hallways, studios and theater
• Securely install, decorate and drape a decorative tree
• Do light cleaning - sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and other surfaces.
• Light lifting and climbing on a ladder or step stool is required for much of this work.

Other possible tasks:

• For those comfortable with tools: small repairs such as using hammer and nails, tightening screws.
• Organizing on-site equipment and supplies for storing Christmas supplies and donations, including moving boxes and furniture.
• Inventory on supplies that will be used for the children’s parties
• Purchasing, or picking up purchased or donated supplies (using ATW funds).

Other important info:

• The event will be videotaped and photographed for our documentation and communication purposes. Volunteers must review and sign a Video/Photo Release upon arrival.
• Please note that volunteers will be divided into smaller groups, and depending on our needs, there is no guarantee that you will be working on a specific task that you had in mind. We appreciate your willingness to help out with whatever needs to be done.
• Participants must dress comfortably: sneakers/flat shoes and clothes they can move comfortably in.
• Participants with for or pine tree pollen allergies should take allergy medication before arriving.

The Actors Theatre Workshop (ATW) is in need of seasonal volunteers to help serve a festive meal to children living in temporary housing or on the spectrum who will attend our annual Holiday Class and Celebration on Wednesday, December 10th.

Volunteers will do any or all of the following:

• Plate and serve nutritious, home-cooked a multi-course dinner (dessert, beverages) to approx. 40-50 children and mentors. Volunteers who interact directly with children will be provided a set of rules they must sign and complete a brief on-site training session.
• Help clean and organize after food service is complete. This includes plate pickup and disposal, trash removal, washing dishes, table breakdown, and light cleaning. Gloves will be provided.

Other important info:

• The day’s events will be videotaped & photographed for our program documentation and communication purposes. Volunteers must be comfortable with this. We will distribute Video Releases to each volunteer when they arrive to review and sign. We cannot accommodate any volunteer who doesn’t wish to be taped.
• Please note that volunteers will be divided into smaller groups, and depending on our needs, there is no guarantee that you will be working on a specific task that you had in mind. We appreciate your willingness to help out with whatever needs to be done.
• This event operates on a tight schedule. There will be a lot of activity with children, and people during this volunteer event. To keep the event moving efficiently with a volunteer crew, instructions provided by ATW staff will be brief and to the point.
• Participants must dress in business casual or festive holiday attire. We want to look nice and professional for the event, as this is a special Holiday celebration for the kids. We suggest flat shoes and no short skirts.
• Due to the popularity of these events, participants who sign-up should arrive PROMPTLY and stay for the whole event.

To ring in the New Year, The Actors Theatre Workshop is in need of a volunteer team to assist in the removal of our holiday decorations. Help with the breakdown of our space after the Holiday celebration of our award-winning after-school theatre arts education program for children living in temporary housing or on the spectrum.

• Remove and carefully store holiday lights that have put up around our hallways, lobby, studios and theatre
• Remove and store holiday decorations adorning the Christmas trees
• Help with cutting down, moving and disposing of our Christmas trees
• Help dispose of decorative garlands/wreaths/vase arrangements
• Do light cleaning - sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and other surfaces.
• Light lifting and climbing on a ladder or step stool is required for much of this work.
