Life Stories Program

At the Actors Theatre Workshop, we believe in the transformative power of the performing arts to uplift, inspire, and empower. Led by ATW’s Founder and Artistic Director, Thurman E. Scott, the Life Stories Program is a creative writing and performance program for immigrants and people on the autism spectrum that gives them the opportunity to tell their stories through the creative and dramatic process.

We feel tremendously excited to be a part of these stories that individuals—young and old—have lived through. Many have a particular story to tell, including the struggles and the insights they have learned from coming to America. These personal journeys are filled with resilience, hope, and wisdom, and sharing them creates space for deeper understanding and connection.

This program gives a voice to those who have struggled to bring their ideals and visions to America, and we celebrate the ways in which their experiences continue to make this country more worldly, vibrant, and exciting for all. With open arms, we move forward—committed to this journey, and to being a light that helps keep America burning bright.

Whether you’re a parent, a student, a neighbor, or someone who believes in the arts as a force for good—we invite you to join us in building a more inclusive, empowered future.
