Simply put, The Actors Theatre Workshop has changed my life as an artist. I attribute much of my growth, not only as an actor, but also as a person to my time spent working with Thurman E. Though I wasn’t able to complete the 10 Session Acting Intensive with Mr. Scott (due to foot surgery), what I learned I shall carry with me for life. Dear Mr. Scott, I am training at drama school in the UK (I am British) and out of the challenges I have met, I began searching the internet for understanding of the difficulties of my training.

I found the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and Tony Greco, and yourself. I appear to be in the category of having imagination and expression a plenty – my teachers have full, strong belief in my potential but that I need the discipline to be able to use this. I am finding difficulty in cantering myself, and sustaining consistency through rehearsal to performance.

Working with Thurman enabled me to discover and develop and ultimately share the most beautiful parts of who I am with the world. I learned about drama. I learned about how important it is – for me – to be simple and direct. I was able to find out how truly valuable I am. It would be impossible, I think, to write in one paragraph the experience I had working with Thurman in the master class. Can I articulate something that represents the essence of my experience? I learned what it feels like to be present and to live truthfully. I experientially learned to see big ideas that open my mind and inspire me. And how to make choices that warm my soul, bringing to life that which can change people and the world. I was given a technique that allows my imagination to open, which liberates me. I laughed deeply. I cried deeply. I learned how to live with clarity and intention. I learned about action.

My growth has allowed me to be fascinated and amazed by life and also to have compassion for myself along the journey.
